- Named the PFA Young Player of the Year as reward for the 1996-97 season, which began with ‘that’ lob over Wimbledon’s Neil Sullivan.
- Celebrated second Premier League title with Manchester United, with the team finishing seven points ahead of Newcastle United.
1998- Scored first England goal with a trademark free kick against Colombia in the 1998 World Cup group stage.
- Forced way back into England manager Glenn Hoddle’s starting team, though blamed for World Cup exit after sending off against Argentina.
- Made a pariah by England fans, but scored a 90th minute equaliser against Leicester City on return to Old Trafford.
1999- Marquee year for Beckham saw him play a key role in United’s FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League treble.
- Named UEFA Club Player of the Year for 1999 as reward for starring role in United’s record breaking year.
- Finished second in the FIFA World Player of the Year award ceremony behind Barcelona’s Rivaldo and ahead of Argentina’s Gabriel Batistuta.
2000- Lifted fourth Premier League title as United stroll to an 18-point winning margin over Arsenal and Leeds United.
- United won their last 11 Premier League matches and Beckham scored five goals in the run, including the opening goal at Southampton.
- Named England captain by interim manager Peter Taylor on November 15 for a friendly game against Italy.
2001- Netted five goals for England in the calendar year to end a three-year scoreless streak for his country and collected fifth Premier League title.
- Conversion from villain to hero for the Three Lions completed with last minute winner against Greece to seal qualification to the 2002 World Cup.
- Named BBC Sports Personality of the Year and finished in second place once again in the race to be named FIFA World Player of the Year.
2002- Made dramatic return from broken metatarsal against Deportivo La Coruna to lead England at the 2002 World Cup.
- Scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in the key 1-0 group stage victory over Argentina, exorcising 1998 World Cup demons.
- Celebrated the best goalscoring tally of his career in the 2001-02 season, with 16 strikes in 42 games in all competitions for United.
2003- Awarded an OBE for services to football on June 13 as his status as England’s premier player was confirmed in the honours list.
- A season spent in-and-out of the Manchester United team ended with a sixth Premier League title in which he marked final appearance with a goal at Everton.
- Became the third Englishman to play for Real Madrid after he was sold to the Spanish giants on July 1 for £25 million
| AND BEYOND 
2004- Enjoyed a successful transition in to La Liga as he joined forces with ‘Galacticos’ Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane.
- Played in all of England’s matches at Euro 2004 but he missed a penalty in the losing quarter-final shoot-out with Portugal.
- Scored first goal at Old Trafford since move to Spain in the World Cup 2006 qualification victory against Wales.
2005- Finished in second place in La Liga and only reached second round of the Champions League in his second season with Madrid.
- Had the honour of captaining England for the 50th time in the friendly match with Argentina in November.
- In October, became the first England captain to be sent off after he received his marching orders against Austria.
2006- Became the first player to score in three World Cups for England after his second round free kick against Ecuador.
- Fell out of favour with new Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello, regularly finding himself on the bench.
- Dramatically relinquished England armband after World Cup and was then dropped from Steve McLaren’s squad when he took over as manager.
2007- Signed £128 million contract with Los Angeles Galaxy with the mission to raise MLS profile. Banished by Capello as result.
- Performed remarkable turnaround for club and country as he worked his way back in to the Real Madrid and England squads.
- Played pivotal role in Madrid’s remarkable comeback to win La Liga, his only major trophy won in Madrid.
2008- Scored his first league goal with the LA Galaxy against the San Jose Earthquakes and scored from 70 yards in the 3-1 win against the Kansas City Wizards.
- Named an inductee in to the English Football Hall of Fame alongside players such as Thierry Henry, Paul Scholes and Ray Wilson.
- Loan move to A.C. Milan was announced on October 30 as he aimed to return to European football for the end-of-season break.
2009- Enjoyed impressive spell in Italy. although he could not force a permanent move to Serie A after Milan failed to meet the Galaxy’s valuation.
- Claimed first silverware with the Los Angeles Galaxy as the club beat the Houston Dynamo 2-0 in the Western Conference final.
- Overtook Bobby Moore as England’s most capped outfield player with his 109th appearance in the friendly against Slovakia.
2010- Made winning return for Milan as he played 75 minutes of the 5-2 victory against Genoa on 6 January.
- Plays a part in Milan's opening goal against Manchester United at the San Siro, but he is substituted on 72 minutes in the 3-2 defeat
